Ah, Provence! The landscapes, the nature, the lifestyle and the culture, plus generous sunshine and the deep blue sea in the background… No doubt about it, the Bouches-du-Rhône region is the ideal place to go on your next holiday in the south of France!
A major destination in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The Bouches-du-Rhône department is in the south of France, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The Bouches-du-Rhône coastline looks out on the Gulf of Lion. This is a region of many contrasts, combining the coast, the mountains, plateaux, plains, vineyards and marshland. To the west is the Côte Bleue, the meeting point of inland pools and the Mediterranean Sea. To the east is the unique beauty of the Calanques. And in the middle, the wild and secret Camargue. Another big asset is the Mediterranean climate, so people feel like they are on holiday all the year round!
Your summer in Provence: beaches unlimited !
If you're a fan of water sports and you love the beach, your stay in our holiday residence on the Mediterranean Sea will be a chance to see the top seaside resorts in Bouches-du-Rhône: Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, La Ciotat, Cassis, Sausset-les-Pins, Carry-le-Rouet… Between Martigues, "the Venice of Provence", and Marseille is the Côte Bleue, with a series of rocky inlets, picturesque ports, little hidden creeks and big beaches open to the winds. If you're wondering where to lay down your beach towel during your holiday, we recommend the beach in Arles (Plage de Piémanson) with seven kilometres of fine sand at the heart of Camargue, Crin Blanc beach in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, Sainte-Croix beach in Martigues or the Rives d'Or beach in Sausset-les-Pins. The hardest thing will be to choose!
Heritage: what to see in Bouches-du-Rhöne
The cultural and historic heritage of Bouches-du-Rhône is filled with some priceless treasures. The Hameaux de Camargue residence is 4 km from the historic centre of Arles, an open-air museum-city, famous for many Roman monuments that are listed as part of World Heritage by UNESCO. For culture and history buffs, Saint Rémy-de-Provence at the heart of the Alpilles range, Tarascon Castle or the Saint-Martin-de-Crau market hall will also be on the programme during your holiday or weekend in the Alpilles. Take advantage of the great location of our holiday residence near Nîmes to explore the treasures from Antiquity in the "French Rome". If you are renting an apartment or studio flat in Bouches-du-Rhône, you should of course take a trip to Marseille, with Notre Dame de la Garde basilica, the Old Port and the Château d'If. Our holiday village is ideally placed for trips to Marseille and the nearby areas. Then you can head for Aubagne and explore the skills of the santon (figurine) makers. To round off your day, you can take a trip to Aix-en-Provence, Cap Canaille and Cassis. All these unmissable places will make your stay in Bouches-du-Rhône a truly rich and refreshing cultural experience.
Nature holidays: Camargue, the Calanques and the Alpilles
