Creation
It was on June 13, 1977 that the first lines of the park's history were written, when the Puy du Fou castle was discovered, then in ruins.
It was only a year later, on June 16, 1978, that the first performance of the Cinéscénie (the park's famous nighttime show) took place. A performance performed by more than 600 Puyfolais (members of the Puy du Fou association) which was a real success, since no less than 80,000 visitors were counted in the first year.
Seeing the success of Cinéscénie increasing from performance to performance, the Puyfolais decided to create a daytime show: the Grand Parc du Puy du Fou, in 1989. Then, from year to year, numerous shows were created: the Falconry, the Memory Trail, the Water Theater…
Over the years, the villages and decorations of the park were erected, allowing the public to stroll through the medieval village of Font-Rognou, on the Place du Bourg Bérard or even in the heart of the village of Saint Philbert le Vieil.
Daytime shows
The shows evolve over the years and with technological advances. Creating numerous flagship shows, making the park famous.
In 1997, one of the park's best-known shows saw the light of day: the Vikings. Attend the wedding of Sybèle and Aldéric, according to Vendée traditions. However, everything does not go as planned, since vikings appear aboard their longships to invade the village of Saint Philbert the Elder.
In 2001, a new spectacle unique in the world was created: the Gallo-Roman Stadium, which would subsequently become the Sign of Triumph.
