A bit of history
The castle dates back to the 12th century according to the traces found, and would have been the property of Raymond de Mévouillon, Hugues du Puy-Montbrun, Bertrand de Baux, the Dauphin de Viennois and Rican de l'Espine
Finally, in 1635, Isabeau, the last of the Espines and lady of Aulan, married François-Marie de Suarez. Since that time the castle has belonged to the Suarez d'Aulan family.
In 1859 the old castle was demolished and reborn in 1880 much larger following the purchase of unoccupied houses in the village of Aulan. In 1933 it was renovated again before opening its doors to the public in 1958.
During these visits, you will be able to admire the enclosure, the walls, the towers and the ramparts which surround the castle. You can also discover the interior of the castle, which houses beautifully decorated rooms and ancient art objects.
