Located half an hour from the Domaine du Lambon, Zoodyssée is a wildlife park covering more than 25 hectares in the heart of the Chizé forest in the south of the Deux-Sèvres, on the edge of the Charente Maritime. Close to the Marais Poitevin, the forest of Chizé is an excellent destination for nature lovers, hikers and cyclists.
A wildlife park working for the preservation of species
You can discover many animals including wolves, lynxes, bisons, vultures and marmots, in a protected natural setting. With around 800 animals living in large spaces, the Zoodyssée park works for the reintroduction of numerous species and is part of an ecological approach, favourable to biodiversity. It is therefore a real pleasure to be able to observe the animals in open spaces, an approach that is a world away from zoos with cramped cages.
Guided by educational instructors, the park visits provide new perspectives on the life of animal species in their natural environment. It is also an opportunity to observe endangered species that used to exist in the French countryside, such as bustards and cistudes turtles.
The Zoodyssée park is an excellent destination near the Domaine du Lambon and is a great stopover in the Deux-Sèvres countryside if you are planning to visit the Marais Poitevin or Niort.
